My Celtic imagination is drawn to the graceful curves of river and and it’s environment. Our Viking ancestors were seafaring people, and this deep intimacy with oceans and tributaries is expressed in our artforms. The human relationship with water goes far beyond survival, and its’ symbolism has entered the cultural lexicon to express our innate understanding of time. A graceful metaphor for the ‘eternal now’, the river helps us understand the simultaneous present moment and eternal continuity.

The physical beauty of the river also speaks to our bodies. Glides and eddies, riffles and meanders can be felt in the sway of our hips, the roll of our shoulders, and the wiggle of our toes. Living near a river is an experience of constant transformation: The beautiful, ever surprising dance of life.
