Description
This is a signed and numbered Limited Edition Print (only 50 will ever be made) from an original drawing that I made after the Caldor Fire of 2021, using charcoal foraged from the burn area near my studio in Christmas Valley.
About the artwork:
Part of the practice of ‘Rivering’ (as I call it) is letting go of attachment. The river is constantly changing, evolving, reconfiguring itself. Trees fall, banks erode, animals chew and drag wood, rocks roll, seasons shift everything. Wandering the trails with no judgement or expectation, with open eyes and a present mind to notice what is here in the moment, I’m learning a new way to live. Spaces open in my mind as I observe spaces between leaves, pine cones, rocks. I see openings, like portals in this receptive state. The clutter of life starts to dissolve. Tranquility finds me, if only for a moment. I take refuge and rest there, often.
