Blurred Boundaries
$1,420.00 – $1,720.00
This is an original drawing that I made after the Caldor Fire of 2021, using charcoal foraged from the burn area near my studio in Christmas Valley. Measuring 30 x 22″, Blurred Boundaries was created on a heavy weight, archival paper called ‘Stonehenge’, and features a deckled edge.
Local delivery only for framed, as it has conservation glass. I’ll deliver free of charge within 100 miles or so – contact me to discuss.

Description
Charcoal is an elemental, earthy medium that human hands have foraged to make marks with for as long as we have been able to hold a stick. When I’m drawing, the process transcends my physical boundary and I find myself engaged with something formless, timeless.
Velvet texture on my fingers – pushing, smearing, dabbing dust which sometimes disappears unexpectedly. Scratchy sounds, deep rasps, staccato. Yin, Yang. Vision blurs and focus returns, repeat, squint, close eyes. Shapes of light behind my eyelids. Reflections on water dance and wiggle. Rock floats, weightless.
