Under the Alders

On the evening I painted this piece, it was early summer. It was hot, and the river was high. At that time of year, I fully submerge into the river at least once a day. This shady spot under a huge overhanging alder  is a perfect place to shelter from the sun, and became my new favourite place to hang out in the water this year. Afterward my ‘swim’, I set up my easel on the sandbar, and painted quickly while the light was still glimmering on the water.
