This is an original drawing that I made after the Caldor Fire of 2021, using pastel and charcoal foraged from the burn area near my studio in Christmas Valley. Survivors was created on archival heavyweight artist paper.
This price is for the unframed drawing, but it is available custom framed for an additional $200 -however, local delivery only for framed, as it has conservation glass. I’ll deliver free of charge within 100 miles or so – contact me to discuss.

Description
Nature often finds a way to survive the harshest conditions, sometimes even thriving under adversity. Some trees require fire to open their cones. I found this little patch of grass in a burned area near the river. The green seemed even greener than it had been before, luminous against the velvety black char.
